Ron and I were best friends. We did many things together. We worked at Ferguson's Cafeteria after school. We joined the Navy together in 1968 and went through bootcamp together. I want to make a small correction on the previous memory that someone posted. Ron did not die in Vietnam by hostile action. Ron had finished his tour of duty in Vietnam and was being flown out by helicopter to catch his plane to come home. The helicopter crashed on land killing Ron and 25 other people aboard. Ron was a Petty Officer Third Class. He was an EM3: Electricians Mate and he served at the NAVSUPACT SAIGON YRBM-21 USNAVFORV in the Dinh Tuong Province, South Vietnam. I was in Vietnam at the time and I couldn't believe what happened. I wanted to attend his funeral but my Marine Commanding Officer would not allow me to leave Vietnam. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Ron.

Sincere thanks for your service and sacrifice.  Appreciate the clarification on Ron's death.  You are both tops in my book.
